Gratitude while TTC

Hi Reader,

How do you feel about the word gratitude?

There is overwhelming evidence showing that gratitude is good for you physically, emotionally, and mentally. Research shows that you sleep better, have decreased blood pressure, are more creative and are less hostile, PLUS, you make better decisions.

I could do with all of those benefits - yet I haven't fully committed to a gratitude practice. Keeping it real here.

I don't have a gratitude journal, nor do I make a mental list of all the things I'm grateful for before bed or when I wake up. I don't carry a gratitude stone in my pocket.

What about you? Do you have a gratitude practice?

For those of you who are doing these gratitude practices faithfully - RESPECT! Seriously - you are doing it. Especially while dealing with fertility. It takes dedication and self-awareness to see the things around us to be grateful for when we feel like something is always missing.

So, what IS gratitude anyways?

Here's Brene Brown's definition of Gratitude from Atlas of the Heart:

"Gratitude is an emotion that reflects our deep appreciation for what we value, what brings meaning to our lives, and what makes us feel connected to ourselves and others."

Let's break it down into bite size pieces:

APPRECIATION, VALUES, CONNECTION

If you're having a hard time with the word 'grateful' these days - for any reason - then how about this instead.

1️⃣ What do you appreciate - and start small: a warm drink, a good book, running water, nourishing food, twinkly holiday lights. A hug from a dear friend.

2️⃣ What are your values? Simply put - what values do you want to pass on? To be kind, open minded & open hearted? Who do you know like this? Be grateful for them.

3️⃣ Connection with self and others. Who are you spending your time with? A little bit of time spent taking care of yourself or with a supportive friend goes a LONG way to your overall health and well bing. And that is something to be grateful for.

Whatever we want to call it - I know there is definitely 1 thing I know I am thankful for...

And it's you. I am grateful for you.

Those of you who read my email ramblings, join fertility yoga classes, listen to Fringe Fertility, or for those on the email list thinking about working with me. I appreciate you all. For my fellow fertility practitioners for holding each other up as we support and bring resources to those who are trying to build their families. ❤️

I am deeply honored that you are allowing me to walk along side you at this time, how ever brief it may be 🙏 ✨

In celebration - here is a beautiful song all about gratitude. Kind & Generous by Natalie Merchant. ENJOY! La de da 🎶

Hi Reader, Summer's here and it's got me thinking about magic. The everyday magic that is happening around you all the time. The type that we can see and connect to when we start to pay a little more attention to our surroundings. Like the rose unfurling every morning, to the sparkle of the sun on the water - these are signs if you give them the opportunity to share their messages. I believe that this is one way we can connect to the joy around us. Especially during the fertility journey when...
